Jobs Outlook

• Government economists expect jobs for carpenters to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2020.
• Carpenters will be needed to build and remodel homes and to repair roads and bridges. Regions with larger populations and more businesses should have the most jobs.
• On the other hand, the growing use of factory-made products such as pre-built stairs and bathrooms means that certain jobs may require fewer on-site carpenters.
